FiveDimes recently released over/under regular season win totals for college football teams.

Here is an early-season look at the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the Big 12.

Over/under

FiveDimes has Oklahoma State at seven regular season wins. Last year, the Cowboys went 6-6 in the regular season. The line features a more favorable under for bettors at -110, while the over is at -130.

The upside

Oklahoma State looked like it finally put things together by the end of the season last year.

The Cowboys endured five consecutive losses before finishing the regular season with a win against Oklahoma and then beating Washington in the Bowl game. With a little momentum, the Cowboys will look to get off to a fast start with certainty at the quarterback position.

Mason Rudolph will be at the helm for the Cowboys after leading Oklahoma State’s late-season surge. Rudolph entered last year in the season’s 11th game. He lost that start against Baylor, but helped lead a resurgence against the Sooners and Huskies.

He will be joined by nine of the top 10 returning wide receivers on the team. His offensive line will be better and his defense should feature several playmakers.

There’s a reason why last year was a rebuilding year, and this year Oklahoma State fans are hoping that last year’s growing pains turn into massive returns for the Cowboys.

The season should start out with a bang, with three home games against non-conference opponents that will be heavy underdogs. Then the Big 12 season starts.

The downside

The Cowboys may be better at almost every position this year than last. The biggest problem with the Cowboys and the reason why the over/under is set at seven is because the Big 12 is tough.

Oklahoma State will face its first of many tests of the season in game four at Texas. However, despite playing in one of the nation’s best conferences, the Cowboys will have a schedule that features the most difficult match-ups at home.

The Cowboys will host Baylor, Oklahoma, Kansas State and TCU. The teams thought to be the top four squads in the conference will all travel to Stillwater, Oklahoma. The Longhorns will likely provide a difficult game, but it is likely the season’s most difficult road game.

The verdict

There’s not much more to say. There’s no way to be more confident in this pick. The over has a worse return, but this shouldn’t even be close.

The Cowboys are a sleeper conference title winner and head coach Mike Gundy won’t allow his team to win less than seven regular season games in a season two years in a row. Oklahoma State may reach double digits, so this is a no-brainer in going with the over.
