The heat continued in week 7 for the Chalk in college football. I laid a bunch of points with my favorites and they dominated.

That’s the reality of college football. Good teams win big, so giving up three to four touchdowns is sometimes necessary. Here’s the week 8 college football picks featuring three favorites that will cover the spread.

For the three best underdogs, check this out.

Overall: 29-13 ATS

Favorites: 14-7 ATS

Iowa (-1.5) at Northwestern

I was hoping to get this game as an underdog, but the public has made the right decision in moving this toward the Hawkeyes.

The Hawkeyes are coming off a bye week to shoulder the burden of the remaining Big 10 schedule. And this week’s matchup features a team the Hawkeyes have beaten in three of the last four meetings.

During Iowa’s two losses this season, it faced top-tier rush defenses in Penn State and Michigan State. And while Northwestern is better than people likely give them credit for, they’re not anywhere near those teams in rush defense.

The Hawkeyes should dominate time of possession and should have the advantage in the fourth quarter. I’m banking on the Hawks on the road. — Go Chalk with Iowa

Indiana at Michigan State (-7)

We’ll stay in the Big 10 for my favorite pick of the week. Did you watch the Michigan State vs. Minnesota game last week?

If you did, you would recognize that betting the Spartans, despite not covering the spread, was the better play. Michigan State looked lost and desired to want to escape the rain and go home in the fourth quarter at Minnesota.

Before the bad close-out, the Spartans dominated the Golden Gophers, similar to what they’ve done on several occasions this season. Don’t be fooled by Indiana’s close loss in week 7 to Michigan. The Wolverines were by far the better team and the Hoosiers were able to use momentum to stay close.

That won’t happen this week. This game turns into a blowout quick. — Go Chalk with Michigan State

Kentucky at Mississippi State (-11.5)

It’s time for Kentucky to return back to earth.

The Wildcats are 5-1. If you didn’t realize that, you’re not alone. The only problem is that those five wins came against cream puffs — minus a win at South Carolina.

They should be commended on winning the games they’re supposed to, but this is an entirely different atmosphere. The Bulldogs already ran through the gauntlet of playing LSU, Auburn and Georgia in consecutive weeks.

Minus a game against Alabama, the rest of the schedule is navigable for this team to reach the eight to nine win mark. That starts on Saturday against a Wildcat team not ready to compete at this level. — Go Chalk with Mississippi State
