No matter how many teams are in your fantasy football league, finding sleepers cannot be under-valued.
There will be plenty this season, just as there has been in the past. Whether it’s the rookie who jumps on the scene, or the player we dismissed as too old or a bust, there will be several players who will be considered sleepers in the 2019 fantasy football draft.
Here’s three sleepers I’m eyeing as players who will be productive.
Duke Johnson, Houston Texans, Running Back
ADP: 126 overall
Johnson would have been an interesting later round pick even if Lamar Miller didn’t suffer a season-ending injury. Now, with Miller out for the season with a torn ACL, Johnson should be one of the most interesting picks in this year’s draft.
He’s long been known as a pass-catching running back. However, when he was in college, he was a sturdy running back who had no trouble being the workhorse on a weekly basis. So I’m not sure why we should just pigeon-hole him as a purely third-down back.
He entered the league with the ability to be a three-down back, so I believe Houston will offer him that opportunity. This offense should be better-than-average, so Johnson will have several opportunities to perform. His ADP will shoot up the charts and he’s worth a look much earlier than 126.
Matt Breida, San Francisco 49ers, Running Back
ADP: 109 overall
This may take awhile, but trust me on this one. Breida is the better running back in that 49ers offense. That means, he’ll have another nice campaign in 2019.
Kyle Shanahan’s offense always features a good running back. So whoever gets the most carries in this San Francisco offense, will have a productive fantasy football campaign.
Luckily, with this ADP, you don’t have to exercise too much risk with Breida. He still is likely just behind Tevin Coleman on the depth chart, but I just don’t believe he’s a better every-down option than Breida.
Trey Burton, Chicago Bears, Tight End
ADP: 148 Overall
Last was supposed to be a breakout campaign for Burton. And while he placed in the top-10 among tight ends in fantasy football scoring, it wasn’t necessarily the year that many fantasy football owners believe it would be.
But now, with a much lower ADP, there is some hope for an under-the-radar breakout season for Burton.
The Bears should be able to consistently move the ball on offense with several weapons. Burton won’t attract too much attention from opposing defenses and he will be looked on to score touchdowns for this Bears offense.
Don’t lose hope in Burton this year, especially with a favorable ADP.
