It’s been a rough start to the fantasy baseball season. The two-start pitchers have been difficult to find. The hitters, at least on my fantasy lineup, have been non-existent. And the waiver wire is a land mine of busts.

Thankfully, the Major League Baseball is a slog, so despite the struggles in the first two weeks, there’s still a lot of time remaining to reverse the early season fantasy baseball blues. Finding two-start pitchers is still my go-to in delivering the best possible chance to succeed on a weekly basis. Here’s my favorite two pitchers with a two-start week expected in week 3 of the fantasy baseball season.

Blake Snell, SP, Tampa Bay Rays

Snell has always had above-average stuff. The main issue, which is something that still concerns me, is that he has some control issues.

His control was wild in his most recent outing against Chicago, but he still turned in a quality start, and showed off his best attribute in registering strikeouts. He’s owned in less than 50 percent of leagues on ESPN, which is surprising, considering he strikes out nine batters per nine innings in his career.

This week, Snell should be one of the top adds on the waiver wire, thanks to his matchups, too. He will square off against Texas and Minnesota, which are both having difficulties scoring runs. Both teams rank in the bottom-half of Major League Baseball in runs scored, with Texas being a bottom-10 team in terms of batting average.

Snell will contribute in the strikeouts category this week, and he has a solid chance at producing two more quality starts.

Mike Foltynewicz, SP, Atlanta Braves

Foltynewicz is a regular in the two-start pitching pool.

He’s not good enough to be a regular starter in fantasy baseball, but he has good enough stuff to warrant attention as a two-start pitcher when it’s his turn in the rotation. So far this season, he hasn’t been bad, allowing two or fewer earned runs in all three contests.

The biggest issue, though, is his inability to go more than five innings.

If he can log a few more innings this week, he should be a solid choice during his two starts. He’ll square off against Philadelphia, a bottom-five team in batting average, and the New York Mets, a team with a bottom-half batting average in the last seven days.

Foltynewicz is owned in less than 65 percent of fantasy leagues on ESPN, so he’s a safe choice this week for two starts.
