Thanks to a hot start, Mat Latos’ bandwagon was filled with fantasy baseball owners looking to pick up a few extra points along the way.

Lately, though, those pickups have turned into drops, making Latos available on the waiver wire in more than 50 percent of leagues on ESPN.com. That works well for fantasy owners looking to find two starts from one pitcher this week for their roster.

Latos will take the bump Monday against Cleveland and later in the week at Kansas City. It’s only May, but those games are important for a White Sox team that has been slumping of late, and Latos can’t keep falling off the cliff like he’s been doing in his last five starts.

Latos has allowed 19 earned runs during those starts and struck out 11 compared to 12 walks. He’s done a solid job to earn those drops.

He’s been a far different pitcher than he was to start the season, when he allowed only two runs in four starts. He’s not the pitcher that he was in the beginning of the season, but he’s also not the pitcher that he’s been lately. He’s somewhere in the middle, allowing fantasy owners enough incentive to take a chance on his two starts this season.

Although Cleveland has been hot in the month of May, the Royals still aren’t scoring many runs. And while the Indians are scoring at a high clip, their batting average still ranks outside of the top-10 in the month of May.

Monday’s game is the first in a doubleheader in Chicago. Cleveland will come out flat after a trip from Boston, while the White Sox will play with more urgency.

Latos will find a happy medium this week and will offer two quality starts.
