It’s time to take a look at some position players ripe for the picking on the waiver wire. If you’re struggling through this fantasy baseball season, now’s the time to take advantage of some players being overlooked.

Here’s three position players on most waiver wires who could add some depth to your roster.

Didi Gregorius, SS, NY Yankees

An injury derailed him for the beginning of the season. Now that he’s back in the lineup, he’s doing what pretty much every other New York slugger is doing — hitting.

Since returning from the DL on April 28, Gregorius is hitting .313, with nine RBIs and five runs scored. His power hasn’t shown up like last year, but he did hit his first homer of the season Tuesday, so that may start showing up more for fantasy owners.

He’s owned in less than 50 percent of fantasy leagues on ESPN, but that shouldn’t be the case. He’s still young and has shown improvement in his batting average and power numbers during the last two seasons. That improvement seems to be continuing, so he can be a steal for you off the waiver wire.

Keon Broxton, OF, Milwaukee Brewers

I’ll stick with the teams hitting the cover off the ball and go with Broxton, who for the past week, has been unstoppable.

In the last week, he’s hitting .529 with a .600 on-base percentage. Now, if he can only keep up that pace for the rest of the season…

OK, so that won’t happen, and his batting average is actually his weakest point. But he’s doing so well in other categories, he should be owned in more than 25 percent of fantasy leagues.

He has eight stolen bases this year, which already puts him in the top-10 in that category. But he’s also scoring runs, with 16 on the season.

Stolen bases are hard to find. If Broxton can get on base, he’s a legitimate contender for multiple stolen bases a week.

Yonder Alonso, 1B, Oakland A’s

I’m part of the problem on this. Alonso is owned in less than 50 percent of fantasy leagues, but yet he’s the best fantasy option on Oakland at the moment.

And my roster has an Oakland player on it, but it’s not Alonso. Khris Davis is a highly owned Oakland position player, but he’s been in the dumps lately, while Alonso keeps crushing it.

Alonso is batting over .300, with a career-high 11 home runs already. I don’t believe Alonso can keep up his torrid pace, considering he’s 30 and has never done this before. But he’s worth picking up now while he’s hot. Since May 5, he has five home runs and 10 RBIs.
