It may officially be football season, but there’s still work to be done in fantasy baseball.
There are still several options to consider on the waiver in fantasy baseball. Here’s the best two-start pitchers available on the week 18 fantasy baseball waiver wire.
Lance Lynn, SP, New York Yankees
For the first time this season, Lynn will make a start for the Yankees.
In his starts this season, he hasn’t been terrible, or great. But with Sonny Gray’s demise, Lynn is set for two starts this week for New York.
The matchups work out for a solid two starts. Lynn will start out the week against the Chicago White Sox and will then conclude the week against Texas. The Rangers can score, unlike Chicago, but both teams rank in the bottom-10 in Major League Baseball in batting average.
In his last five outings, Lynn has not surrendered more than three earned runs in any of those outings. His strikeouts haven’t been noteworthy, but his ability to limit earned runs should get some attention.
Kyle Gibson, SP, Minnesota Twins
Sometimes it’s not all about the matchups. Gibson gets a tough first game this week against Cleveland, but with the way he’s been pitching in recent weeks, he should still be trusted this week for two starts.
He’s allowed more than three earned runs only once in his 10 starts. During that time, he has seven quality starts.
That’s a production level that shouldn’t be stuck on the waiver wire. However, he’s still on the waiver wire in more than 50 percent of leagues on ESPN.com.
He’s been pretty good with strikeouts, too, so there’s no reason why you should keep him on the waiver wire, especially with a second start against Detroit, a bottom-10 team in batting average.
If he’s available, don’t skip over Gibson.
