With one month remaining in the fantasy baseball season, many fantasy baseball leagues are heading into the playoffs.
That means two-start pitchers are necessary in the coming weeks, and with Labor Day allowing more opportunities at finding two-start pitchers, here’s my favorite two-start pitchers on the week 22 fantasy baseball waiver wire.
Michael Fulmer, SP, Detroit Tigers
It’s been a rough year for Fulmer, dealing with bad outings and being shelved for injury.
He’s now back from the disabled list, and while recent results haven’t been promising, he offers some hope this week for two starts. He squares off against the White Sox early in the week before toeing the rubber against St. Louis.
Fulmer has been lights out against Chicago in his career and while the Cardinals offer a challenge, Fulmer has the capability of being a solid strikeout pitcher in fantasy baseball.
His last two starts haven’t stretched deep into games, so it appears that it’s taking a little bit to get back on track from his injury. He should be closer to getting back to form this week and that would be a nice addition to any fantasy baseball roster. He has a challenge this week against St. Louis, but he has the ability to be a solid starting option. Be confident in picking him up for two starts this week.
Reynaldo Lopez, SP, Chicago White Sox
Lopez looks to be back on track after a rough patch.
Lopez has allowed three earned runs in his last 12 2/3 innings pitched and has 13 strikeouts in those starts. He has a great matchup early in the week against Detroit with another decent tilt later in the week against the Los Angeles Angels.
Lopez can offer multiple categorical advantages for fantasy baseball owners. He can go deep into games and can provide strikeouts. That doesn’t happen often on the fantasy baseball waiver wire.
He’s owned in less than 30 percent of leagues on ESPN.com, so if he’s still available in your fantasy baseball league, go ahead and give him a roster spot.
