Backing the Kansas City Chiefs is a profitable endeavor in fantasy football.

That proved once again true in week 2, with unheralded Demarcus Robinson joining the long list of viable fantasy football candidates on the Chiefs. Robinson led all wide receivers in fantasy scoring, netting 172 yards on six catches with two touchdowns.

Can he do it again? I’m not so sure, but here’s my week 3 fantasy football wide receivers start ’em, sit ’em guide.

Start

Sammy Watkins vs. Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens have been really good against the pass this season. And Watkins struggled last week, notching just 49 yards receiving in week 2.

Despite the concerns, Watkins should still not be on your bench.

He was still targeted 13 times in week 2, so that’s encouraging. He’ll continue to be a target hog in this offense, even against a Baltimore defense that has been stingy against the pass. However, even with the early returns for the Ravens, we’ve still yet to see them play a team that has an actual shot at a winning record this year.

Give Watkins more chances because the Chiefs will keep looking for him.

Allen Robinson vs. Washington Redskins

I’ve never been a fan of Mitchell Trubisky, even when the national media was jumping on his bandwagon. The Bears are all about defense and Trubisky will start hearing the murmurs of disappointment with other fellow draftees having major success.

No matter how much I don’t believe in Trubisky, Robinson is still worth a start this week.

The Redskins are allowing the most fantasy points per game to wide receivers, giving up five touchdowns and 424 yards receiving in just two games. Robinson continues to lead the team in targets, so he’s going to keep having opportunities at scoring, which is nice to have for a WR2.

John Brown vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Maybe I’m a little too high on Josh Allen so far in the early going, but I’ll still with the Bills offense going into week 3. The Bengals have been bad on defense, so I expect the Bills to have an easy time to drive the ball up and down the field.

And if that happens, Brown will be the biggest benefactor. Brown is averaging nine targets a game this season and he’s catching the ball at a high efficiency.

He’s the clear-cut No. 1 receiver for the Bills, so I would expect he will continue to man that role. I’m bullish on the Bills offense this week, so trust Brown and Allen to deliver.

Sit

Brandin Cooks vs. Cleveland Browns

The Rams have a lot of weapons. And for the most part, it has been wise to start pretty much any viable skill position player for the Rams.

However, Cooks has gotten off to a slow start and I’m not sure I trust that Rams offense on the road just yet.

The Panthers slowed down the Rams in week 1 and Los Angeles wasn’t dominating in week 2 at home either. And those slow starts have affected Cooks, with him generating just 10 targets on the season. The Browns are giving up the fewest fantasy points per game to wide receivers, so there’s some reason to worry about Cooks in week 3.

Jarvis Landry vs. Los Angeles Rams

We should start worrying about Landry’s fantasy football potential.

With Odell Beckham gaining attention in Cleveland, Landry’s output is shrinking. What also is concerning is that the Rams have allowed just the second-fewest fantasy points per game to wide receivers. With Landry’s drop in touches and targets, and Los Angeles’ new-found defense, Landry isn’t anything more than a low-end WR3 or WR4 option.

John Ross vs. Buffalo Bills

The Bills are dominating on the defensive side of the ball. That’s an issue for the Bengals offense.

And while Ross has been better this season, I can’t trust his big-play ability against a team that is one of the better defenses in the NFL at limiting big plays. The Bills have allowed less than 300 yards to wide receivers this season in two games and have given up just one touchdown through the air to wide receivers.

This is a plus-matchup for the Bills against a player who is still inconsistent. Ross was quiet for the majority of week 2 before a big play in the final minute (when the game was out of reach) saved his fantasy day. Look for Ross to have another quiet day in this tough week 3 matchup.
