Amari Cooper finally came back to 2017. He was a beast in the week 7 matchup against Kansas City, going for 30 fantasy points, thanks to 210 yards receiving and two touchdowns.

He was targeted 19 times, so that helped his cause. Despite the performance, there still are some questions about his drops, which continue to happen. And how good is the Kansas City secondary? The Chiefs weren’t going to allow the Raiders to beat them on the ground, so they basically let Derek Carr do whatever he wanted from the pocket.

I’m not sure if Cooper is back or if it was a one-game show, spurred by the matchup. I’d still start Cooper this week, and for the rest of the players on the list, here’s the week 8 wide receivers start ’em, sit ’em guide for fantasy football.

Start

Nelson Agholor vs. San Francisco 49ers

Agholor is having a nice bounce-back season in 2017 after a disappointing start to his career.

Other than Zach Ertz, he looks to be one of Carson Wentz’s favorite targets. He’s playing the majority of snaps and he’s averaging at least five targets per game.

And with those targets, he’s catching pretty much all of them, and oftentimes, he’s scoring touchdowns.

The Eagles are a hot commodity in the fantasy football world. Ertz is one of the best tight ends, and the wide receivers are getting decent volume. There’s a lot of mouths to feed, but Agholor is maximizing those targets with touchdowns. He has a touchdown in each of the last three games.

This week, he goes against a San Francisco defense that is a bottom-10 pass defense and allowing the 10th most fantasy points to wide receivers. With plenty of byes this week, Agholor is at least a WR3.

Pierre Garcon vs. Philadelphia Eagles

We’ll stay in the same matchup. Even though the Eagles have capable defensive players, the defense is sometimes far behind the offense.

That’s especially the case against the pass.

Philadelphia allows the fourth-most yards per game through the air and is giving up the fifth-most fantasy points to wide receivers. What also helps Garcon’s stock in this game is that Philadelphia will likely score a lot, forcing the 49ers into passing situations.

Garcon was quiet in week 7 with seven targets, the fewest he’s had since week 2. He’s going to attract attention. Now, he just needs to find the end zone for the first time this season. That should come in due time.

Devin Funchess vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Even with little production, I still like the amount of targets Funchess is seeing on a weekly basis.

He has only 75 yards receiving combined in the last two games, but he’s been targeted 17 times in those games. In fact, he hasn’t been below eight targets since week 2.

That’s a recipe for success that should lead to better results in week 8. Tampa Bay is going to get better defensively. But for now, they’re still weak against the pass. The Bucs are third-worst against the pass and are allowing the most fantasy points to wide receivers.

That works in Funchess’s favor. Cam Newton needs a bounce-back performance, so he should be much better than week 7, allowing Funchess to have more production.

Sit

T.Y. Hilton vs. Cincinnati Bengals

As you can tell, I’m pretty down on the Colts.

And that means their weapons are suffering as bad as their defense. Hilton can’t be counted on like usual thanks to Jacoby Brissett at the helm. He has three catches combined in the last two games and it isn’t going to get any easier in week 8.

Cincinnati is one of the best in the NFL against the pass. They allow the third-fewest passing yards per game and are allowing the fifth-fewest fantasy points per game to wide receivers.

Against top-14 pass defenses — Los Angeles Rams, Seattle and Jacksonville — Hilton has 114 yards receiving and no touchdowns. That won’t get any better in week 8.

Ted Ginn vs. Chicago Bears

Ginn has been a monster producer in the last two weeks for the Saints, going for 207 yards and one touchdown.

This week, though, he’s going to face a more daunting task of playing time and squaring off against a pretty good Chicago defense.

The Bears are a top-10 pass defense and just made Cam Newton look silly in week 7. I don’t expect the same effort this week, but it still should be good enough to limit Ginn’s production level. He’s mostly a big-play guy anyway, but with Willie Snead likely back, it’s becoming too crowded among the Saints skill position players.

The Saints won’t be able to throw all over the field against Chicago, so I’d give Ginn a seat on the fantasy bench.

Will Fuller vs. Seattle Seahawks

I’m fading the Texans this week.

They haven’t really faced this kind of defense with Deshaun Watson as the quarterback, so there’s a major mystery in how he’ll perform. I don’t want to base my decision on starting a wide receiver on a mystery.

Fuller has scored in each game since returning from injury. However, he’s only averaging a little more than four targets per game. That isn’t good enough to trust against a Seattle defense once again ranked in the top-10 against the pass.

Seattle is one of the best at limiting the opposition’s fantasy points total and that seems likely again in week 8.
