The NFL season has its share of ups and downs, and 2018 once again proved that. I finished with a near .500 record, going just one game over .500 for the regular season.

My underdogs far outpaced the favorites, which shouldn’t be a surprise, considering underdogs are generally overlooked winners in the NFL. That’s why I went underdogs in the AFC Wild Card, and why I’ll give plenty attention to underdogs in the NFC. Here’s my favorite NFL Wild Card picks in the NFC.

Overall: 49-48-4 ATS

Seattle Seahawks (+2) at Dallas Cowboys

Russell Wilson vs. Dak Prescott.

That’s what I keep coming back to when considering which team will win this game. Wilson seems to lead fourth quarter comebacks on a weekly basis. Prescott, on the other hand, isn’t good enough to win games on his own.

He needs a lot of help and that will be difficult against a Seattle defense that has shown strides in recent weeks. The Seahawks actually average more yards per play and give up fewer yards per play in the last three weeks.

Both teams are similar in nature, so this game comes down to who is at the quarterback position. Wilson is good enough to will the Seahawks to a win in this game. — Go Against The Chalk with Seattle

The Chicago Bears are the best bet for this week in the NFL Wild Card picks. Flickr

Philadelphia Eagles at Chicago Bears (-6.5)

I wanted to look at the biggest underdog of the week and take them in the Wild Card round.

But I can’t.

The Bears are the real deal. Defensively, they’re one of two teams I trust in the postseason. And Matt Nagy is a good enough offensive head coach to have his team ready against a Philadelphia team that has been leaky most of the season on the defensive side of the ball.

Oddsmakers agree on this one. It seems like a challenge for the Bears on the surface, but when digging deeper, the Bears have a definitive edge. In the postseason, teams need to be great at one thing to advance through the playoffs. The Seahawks are great in the fourth quarter. The Colts are great at the quarterback position.

The Bears are great on the defensive side of the ball. The Eagles don’t have a unit that can compete with the Bears on defense. I’ll swallow the points and go with a blowout. — Go Chalk with Chicago
