Cruising into week 10, there are some monstrous spreads.

Kansas City is more than a two-touchdown favorite against Arizona, while three other teams are 10-point favorites.

Before you pencil in your week 11 selections, don’t forget the unpredictability of the NFL. The last time we saw a team favored by more than two touchdowns, it lost, and ruined several people’s Survivor Pools.

Keep that in mind before getting too confident in the week 10 NFL Survivor Pool.

Teams Used: Green Bay, Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota (loss), Jacksonville, Carolina, Houston, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Kansas City

Best Bet

Los Angeles Chargers

Obviously, the Chiefs will be the most popular pick. And I can’t see many ways they lose, but I believe I said the same thing in week three with Minnesota. So don’t get too overconfident with that pick.

Since I took Kansas City in week 9, I’ll back a team I’ve been eyeing for weeks. The Chargers are hot and one of the better teams in the AFC. The Raiders have quit. There’s not much else to discuss with Oakland.

I have this game more in the range of three touchdowns, compared to the already set 10-point margin expected by oddsmakers.

This is another road team, so there should be some worry, especially with the Chargers playing back-to-back road games.

However, that shouldn’t be too much of a drawback, since the Chargers are averaging 7.7 yards per play in the last three games, compared to the Raiders, averaging 4.9 in that same span. Los Angeles is getting better on the defensive side of the ball, so don’t worry about the back-to-back road games for Los Angeles and book the Chargers.

Sleeper Pick

Chicago Bears

I failed you last week by saying to be careful on Chicago. It was my lone loss in the Westgate SuperContest, when I backed the Bills to cover the double-digit spread.

That was a mistake, so I’m not making that again this week. The Bears should win decisively against a Detroit team on the road in back-to-back weeks. The Lions also are having difficulties in stopping teams at the moment, along with an offense that has taken a step back.

The loss of Golden Tate is bigger than many people anticipate and the Bears defense is good enough to stall the Lions offense.

It’s time to officially fade the Lions and go with the better overall team in the Bears.

Be Careful

Atlanta Falcons

There’s a lot of big spreads this week, and the Falcons are one of those teams that are heavily favored.

And while I believe the Falcons will win this game, I’d be hesitant to risk my Survivor Pool life on it.

Atlanta’s defense is tough to trust, especially on the road. Atlanta is giving up 6.9 yards per play in the last three weeks, one of the worst marks in the NFL. Cleveland is fallen off a cliff in recent weeks, but there’s still some fight left in the Browns.

That fight can come out at home, especially against a team without much of a defense. Atlanta is the better team, but I wouldn’t bank on that team in this week’s Survivor Pool.
