With week 1’s disaster out of the way, the Chalk got back to respectability in week 2, with a winning record with my favorites.

Overall: 4-8 ATS

Favorites: 3-3 ATS

Missouri (-7) at Purdue

Sometimes a spade is a spade. Purdue is not good.

There’s not many other ways around it. The Boilermakers have looked lost on offense for the most part and the defense can’t get off the field in critical moments.

This is the third straight home game, and while the first two games the Boilermakers weren’t completely outplayed, Missouri offers a different challenge. The Tigers are far better than Eastern Michigan and better than Northwestern.

Offensively, the Tigers are going to score at will against this defense, meaning the Boilermakers need to score to keep up. And I’m just not buying it.

Drew Lock is one of the best quarterbacks in the nation and the Tigers are a sneaky SEC East darkhorse. The Tigers have a talent edge and I’m only having to give up a touchdown to cover this spread. This won’t be within two touchdowns. — Go Chalk with Missouri

Duke at Baylor (-6)

Baylor isn’t back, but it’s better than last year’s forgettable season.

The Bears have looked good on the offensive side of the ball once again through two weeks, with the defense being a work in progress. Duke also has been a feel-good story, with two straight victories, including a nice road win last week against Northwestern.

However, I feel like I’m getting a talent edge in favor of the Bears, which have still recruited well, despite previous issues.

Duke is in the midst of back-to-back road games and will have to come off of a high after upsetting the Wildcats last week. Baylor can quietly get to 4-0 before squaring off with Oklahoma in week 5. — Go Chalk with Baylor

Vanderbilt at Notre Dame (-13.5)

Don’t lose sight of what we witnessed in week 1 with the Fighting Irish. The defense is explosive and the offense is capable of at least moving the ball.

Last week was a forgettable one for Notre Dame. That’s to be expected after a major win in week 1. Let-downs happen.

Notre Dame has a serious talent advantage against Vanderbilt. There are pros on the defensive side of the ball for the Irish, and Brian Kelly always has an offensive unit capable of moving the chains.

Vanderbilt has been a nice story thus far, but I’m not buying it in this one. Notre Dame wears down Vanderbilt and will win by at least two touchdowns. — Go Chalk with Notre Dame
