July is now upon American League teams in Major League Baseball and the Kansas City Royals are still in the driver’s seat for the pennant.

The Royals are still the favorites to win the AL pennant at 15/4, according to www.oddsshark.com. That number is better than its mid-June mark at 5/1 odds.

The Detroit Tigers and Houston Astros are next in line at 15/2 odds. The Tigers have gone down from 6/1 odds in mid-June, while the Astros slightly improved from 17/2.

The American League East is heavily represented toward the top, with the New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays listed at 10/1 odds, while the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays are 12/1.

Four of the five teams in the AL East have winning records and are within one game of each other. The Red Sox are in last place at 36-43.

Despite being in second place in the American League Central, the Minnesota Twins are still toward the bottom for best odds to win the AL pennant. The Twins are 16/1 odds. Only the Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners at 25/1 and the Chicago White Sox at 28/1 have worse odds in the American League.

The Royals also lead the American League in the best odds to win the World Series. Kansas City is 8/1 odds to win the title, which is behind the St. Louis Cardinals and Washington Nationals at 7/1 odds. To show how top-heavy the National League is, the Tigers and Astros are 16/1 odds, which is the second-best number for American League teams. Six National League teams are at 16/1 or better odds to win the World Series.

The worst odds to win the World Series out of the AL is now the Chicago White Sox. The White Sox are 66/1 odds to win the World Series, which is now worse than Oakland and Seattle at 50/1. In mid-June, the A’s owned the worst odds at 100/1. Chicago owns the worst record in the AL at 33-42.
