The safest bet in the American League Eastern Division has been offense.

Four of the five teams in the East own 13 or more overs in the totals category this season. That number doesn’t tell the entire story, though.

Out of the 113 games played by the five East Division teams, 92 have come against each other.

Thanks to two postponements this week, the Baltimore Orioles have played one game against a team outside the East Division (the Chicago White Sox).

Because of those similar matchups, the over/under numbers are consistent with these teams, and so far, pitching has been optional in these games.

The most consistent team in the over category has been the Red Sox. Boston has 15 overs in 22 games this season, to go along with a 10-8 record as a favorite and 2-2 mark as an underdog. The Yankees, Orioles and Blue Jays have 13 overs apiece, with Baltimore owning a higher percentage with 13 overs in 21 games.

The Rays are the lone Eastern Division team to own more unders than overs. Tampa Bay has 13 unders in 23 games, to go along with the best mark as a favorite, at 8-4. The Rays are under .500 as an underdog.

The Orioles and Yankees also own above .500 marks as favorites, with New York at 10-7 and Baltimore at 7-6. The Yankees also are above .500 as an underdog, at 3-2, while the Orioles are 3-5 as an underdog. Toronto joins the Rays and Orioles at below .500 as an underdog, going 5-7 as an underdog.
