There’s a new format to the annual Home Run Derby and the hometown product is the favorite to walk away as the champion.
Cincinnati Reds third baseman Todd Frazier is the 7/2 favorite to win the upcoming derby in his home ballpark, according to Oddsshark. In the new format, he’s the No. 2 seed, squaring off against No. 7 Prince Fielder, who is 11/2 odds to win the derby.
The No. 1 seed, Anaheim Angels’ Albert Pujols, is 5/1 odds to win the derby. He squares off against Chicago Cubs’ Kris Bryant, who is at 6/1 odds.
Other match-ups feature No. 3 Josh Donaldson, of the Toronto Blue Jays, at 7/1 odds, against No. 6 Chicago Cubs’ Anthony Rizzo at 13/2 odds. No. 4 Joc Pederson, of the Los Angeles Dodgers, will square off against No. 5 Manny Machado of the Baltimore Orioles.
Pederson and Machado are 7/1 odds to win the title.
Fielder is a two-time champion in the Home Run Derby, while Pujols and Frazier have finished second in the past.
