Don’t allow Torii Hunter to sit on the waiver wire.

It may be too late, but there’s still a possibility the Minnesota Twins outfielder is still on the waiver wire with the mid-week pick-up approaching.

Forget about his last two games, where he’s 0-for-6 with one RBI and one run scored. In the month of May, including these last two games against Cleveland and Detroit, he’s 17-for-39 with 12 runs scored, four home runs and 13 RBIs.

Despite those numbers, his average is still only .287. The month of April was one to forget, where he notched one homer, and six runs and RBIs apiece. That’s likely why he has been available for fantasy owners to pick up during this month.

With Hunter, fantasy owners are getting a player at the end of his career. He’s been a full-time Major Leaguer since 1999, and his best years are likely behind him. But fantasy owners cannot deny the recent numbers he’s put up for the surging Twins.

And in reality, his last three years have shown promise, with him batting at or near .300, with steady RBI and runs scored numbers. There are several worse options in the outfield, meaning fantasy owners in need of another offensive option, should consider Hunter during the mid-week waiver wire.
