This season has been a struggle for Baltimore Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy. He’s down in every fantasy baseball category, so why should fantasy baseball owners consider Hardy for a second-half pick-up?

Recently, Hardy has shown improvement. During the last month, he’s batting .304 with 16 runs, 14 RBIs and two homers. Those numbers are much improved from his overall statistics this year of .250, 23 runs, 20 RBIs and four homers.

Most of his production has happened in his last 26 games, giving fantasy baseball owners hope that he can reach his 74-RBI, 78-run and 21-homer career average during 162 games. His production during the last month also has him ranked high among shortstops.

He ranks second in runs, fifth in RBIs, fourth in batting average and third in on-base percentage at .340 among shortstops in the last month.

He’s not only producing runs, but he’s been a better option at shortstop than the majority of players at that position in every fantasy baseball statistical category.
