With the season eclipsing the mid-part of June, here are two batters who fantasy baseball owners are undervaluing at this juncture of the season.

Brett Lawrie

Oakland A’s third baseman Brett Lawrie is on the waiver wire, despite owning the third-best batting average during the last month for third basemen.

In his last 24 games, Lawrie is hitting .314 with two stolen bases, nine runs and 13 RBIs. He ranks 11th in RBIs in the last month among third basemen.

Lawrie’s not only considered a third baseman in many fantasy baseball leagues, though. He’s also labeled a second baseman, giving him even more value.

Those same numbers have him ranked as fifth in batting average, ninth in stolen bases and third in RBIs among second baseman. He can take up either spot on a fantasy baseball roster, and provide better production than most options available.

Nick Ahmed

Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Nick Ahmed doesn’t have much to show for himself this year. For the season, he’s batting .217. There’s no wonder he’s still on the waiver wire.

However, he’s battled back lately, and with shortstop being a black hole for quality players, Ahmed could provide a boost in multiple categories.

In his last 27 games, Ahmed leads second basemen with 16 runs, while batting .274 with an on-base percentage of .358. He’s also swiped three bases in that time period.

His on-base percentage in the last month is second only to Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki among shortstops. Ahmed likely won’t hit many RBIs (he has only 12 on the season), but with his added production of runs and on-base percentage, it’s remarkable he’s still available in so many leagues.

It’s tough to find a quality shortstop in fantasy baseball. Ahmed is on the waiver wire and is likely outperforming most players at his position.
