Mike Bolsinger isn’t as hot as he was earlier in the season. But he’s still the best two-start pitcher this week who is still on the waiver wire.

Bolsinger had a rough outing during his last time out, allowing four earned runs during five innings. He’s struggled with control in his last two games, walking three batters each, while striking out three in each of his last two starts, where he’s 0-1.

In the last 11 innings, he’s allowed six runs. So why is he being touted as the best option still on the waiver wire for this week? Those two games were on the road. Monday’s game is at home. He’s unstoppable at home so far, and Monday happens to be his first start against Arizona, the place where he pitched last year.

Bolsinger still has a 1.98 ERA on the season. At home, he’s allowed one earned run during 19 2/3 innings.

And he’ll attempt to show his former team, where he was 1-6, that he’s changed quite a bit since last year.

His other game later this week is just down the road against San Diego, which should be a favorable matchup, with the Padres showcasing a less-than-stellar offense.
