Mitch Moreland may not get as much playing time as most fantasy baseball owners would desire. The left-hander is batting only .233 against leftys this season, and he doesn’t always get the start when the Rangers oppose a team throwing a southpaw.

However, the Texas Rangers first baseman has produced as well as most Major League Baseball first basemen recently, and he continues to sit on the waiver wire.

Despite his less-than-stellar numbers against left-handed hurlers, Moreland is batting .300 overall with a .359 on-base percentage. His batting average over the last 30 days of .287 is ranked eighth for first basemen in MLB.

Also in the last 30 days, his run production is ranked fifth among first basemen with 16, while his RBI total is 13th with 15 RBIs.

His overall stats of 18 runs, 24 RBIs and seven homers don’t do him justice, because he’s produced those numbers in 42 games, compared to many players who have played in upwards of 60 games.

In the last 30 days, his games played numbers are better, with him playing 25 games.

With Kyle Banks being activated from the disabled list, that may take away a few starts from Moreland against left-handed pitchers. However, with the way Moreland has been able to produce in multiple fantasy baseball categories, he should be worth a look for a fantasy baseball owner in need of production from first base or designated hitter, which he also is labeled in some fantasy baseball formats.
