No this isn’t your father’s Delino DeShields. It’s his son.

Delino DeShields Jr. is being picked up in fantasy baseball leagues at a rapid pace. He will be worth some extra cash in auction drafts, but his ability to swipe bases cannot be overlooked.

DeShields Jr. has 11 stolen bases in 26 games as an outfielder with the Texas Rangers. He’s able to steal those bases because he’s getting on base with a .386 on-base percentage and a .271 batting average. In addition to those numbers, he’s also scoring runs with 15 runs in his 26 games.

The scary part is that the youngster seems to be hitting his stride. In his last 10 games, he has nine runs and four stolen bases. He’s also batting 11-for-29 during that stretch.

The Rangers may have a difficult time finding a place for DeShields Jr. in the future with Josh Hamilton coming back. However, he’s someone coming off the waiver wire that could alter a fantasy baseball owner’s season.
