Starting pitchers usually aren’t hiding in fantasy leagues.

After several fantasy drafts, Matt Shoemaker still found himself sidelined in numerous leagues. If your league is still one of them, then make sure he doesn’t last long.

He’s 2-0 already this season with 12 strikeouts in two outings. His ERA is high at 4.38, but his WHIP is slightly above 1.00, giving him multiple statistical categories where he’ll help any fantasy team.

It’s somewhat surprising that he wasn’t in the majority of leagues at the beginning of the season, especially after last season’s success.

Last year, he tallied 16 wins to go along with a 3.04 ERA and 124 strikeouts. He also walked only 24 batters in 136 innings, a trend that appears to have continued this year with one walk over 12 innings.

Many owners likely didn’t pull the trigger on Shoemaker in fear of returning to his Minor League self. The season is not far along, but Shoemaker should be owned in the majority of leagues at this point.
