HOT

Matt Kemp

San Diego outfielder Matt Kemp is the only Padre driving in runs at the moment.

Kemp has 15 RBIs in the last 22 games. During that same time, the next-highest total for a Padres player is six RBIs.

He’s contributing home runs, too, with five in 22 games, to go along with a .280 batting average and .330 on-base percentage. During the last month, Kemp ranks in the top 10 in RBIs and home runs among outfielders.

He is likely not on the waiver wire in fantasy baseball leagues, but he’s been consistent throughout the year, giving him value on the trade market. If you’re in need of an outfielder and have another piece that can be shipped, consider Kemp as an option. He is likely to remain one of the only bright spots on offense for the Padres.

NOT

Justin Upton

In the last 30 days, San Diego Padres outfielder Justin Upton hasn’t been getting on base enough to justify being owned in virtually all fantasy baseball leagues.

Upton is batting .173 with a .241 on-base percentage in his last 20 games. During that time he has contributed three stolen bases, but his five and six RBIs don’t rank high on his own team, let alone for outfielders. Now, it’s being reported that he left Sunday’s game early because of a possible injury.

For the season, Upton is batting .252. If his bat doesn’t pick up, he won’t have the opportunity to contribute in other fantasy baseball statistical areas.
