Injuries to quarterbacks have been a hot topic so far this season. But when it comes to other positions, there haven’t been too many high-profile, long-term injuries to the best position players.

That remained a consistent result in week 5, with the major fantasy options escaping the injury bug. Without major injuries (which is a good thing for everyone involved), there hasn’t been a ton of movement on the waiver wire.

There have been a few players who deserve some looks, though, so here’s the best week 6 NFL fantasy football waiver wire pickups.

Gerald Everett, TE, Los Angeles Rams

As the Rams transition from a primary running team to more of a passing team, Everett deserves some notice in fantasy football.

The tight end position has been highly disappointing this year, so it’s amazing that Everett didn’t get immediate love after his week 4 numbers. But with two consecutive games with solid numbers, it’s time to pick up Everett.

He’s been targeted 19 times in the last two games, with a 136-yard effort in week 5 against Seattle. The Rams’ offensive line has struggled this year, which means the running game has not been near as good as it has been in the past. Everett will continue to get targets, so pick him up on the week 6 NFL waiver wire.

Gardner Minshew II, QB, Jacksonville Jaguars

It’s time to get Minshew off the waiver wire.

He’s been a top-tier fantasy option since he replaced Nick Foles and he’s not making the major mistakes. He has only two turnovers this season, to go along with nine touchdowns. And he’s been doing it against generally reliable defenses in Carolina, Tennessee and Denver.

There are some weapons in Jacksonville and with Leonard Fournette having a resurgence, that has taken some pressure off Minshew. Defenses have to choose where there going to let up against the Jaguars and it’s creating a nice niche for Minshew.

With Russell Wilson, there should be some opportunities for DK Metcalf. Flickr

DK Metcalf, WR, Seattle Seahawks

There’s not much to love on the waiver wire, so I’m going with a bit of a reach.

Metcalf had a touchdown in week 5, so that has helped his numbers creep up a bit among wide receivers. His targets have shrunk in recent weeks, with seven during the last two weeks. However, I’m betting on Metcalf to get better as the year progresses, so I see that target share to represent closer to what we saw earlier this year, when the targets were closer to seven.

Seattle is a run-first team, but there are plenty of opportunities for targets with Russell Wilson at quarterback.

Trust the process and keep Metcalf ready for when he starts to breakout.
