Please tell me that I’m not the only one suffering from the fantasy baseball blues.
After a torrid start, my offense has turned into a shell of its former self, with major issues in multiple categories. So before the All-Star break, I’ll be combing the waiver wire for signs of life on offense.
Here’s three players to check out on the week 14 fantasy baseball waiver wire.
Aaron Hicks, OF, New York Yankees
His stock is soaring with a stellar June, so grab him now before he isn’t available any longer on the waiver wire.
Hicks slugged .547 in June after disappointing in the month of May. During his last 15 games, he’s batting .333, with 11 RBI, 12 runs and seven homers. That’s enough to get some attention, and while he’s still owned in less than 50 percent of fantasy baseball leagues, his ownership is climbing.
If he can keep up in the batting average category (.258 average this season), he’s actually a multi-tool fantasy option. He has 39 runs to go along with 38 RBI, 14 home runs and six stolen bases.
He’s been hot recently, so keep an eye on him as a potential choice for your fantasy baseball roster.
Ryon Healy, 3B/1B/DH, Seattle Mariners
He’s been on the watch list for several seasons as a potential solid fantasy baseball option.
After a hot June, he should officially enter the conversation as a regular fantasy baseball starter.
He has 16 home runs for the season, putting him on pace for 30 this season. Put that together with his 40 RBI and 32 runs, and he can start producing right away for your fantasy baseball team.
Now like everyone still stuck on the fantasy baseball waiver wire, he’s not great in a specific category, with his Kryptonite being the batting average category. He’s hitting .252 on the season, so that’s a number that is a drawback. With his other production, though, he’s still an attractive option for rosters, especially in deeper leagues.
He’s owned in less than 40 percent of fantasy baseball leagues, so keep him on your radar.
Jesse Winker, OF, Cincinnati Reds
He’s young, so I’m not sure he can consistently keep this pace going, but he’s worth a look on the fantasy baseball waiver wire.
Winker has been hot in recent weeks, tallying five homers and 20 RBI during the month of June. That has given him a boost in all his totals, and makes him an attractive option since he’s batting .270 for the season.
Will this continue? I have my doubts and many other fantasy baseball regulars do, too.
He’s owned in less than 10 percent of leagues, so he’s an outlier. However, if he can keep up on this production, he’s well worth a roster spot.
