Where’s Odell Beckham Jr. from last year in this fantasy football draft? It’s hard to tell, and if I could tell you, I’d likely be sitting on some major television station instead of behind a laptop in my living room.
Even if there’s no way to predict the next big thing, here are a few options who could be steals late in fantasy football drafts.
Owen Daniels
Denver Broncos tight end Owen Daniels isn’t what many would consider a lock to be a quality fantasy football starter. His career stats don’t do him much justice, with 33 touchdowns in a nine-year career.
However, although we’ve been down on quarterback Peyton Manning’s upside this year, Manning has shown that he can make wide receivers and tight ends into viable fantasy football options.
With Julius Thomas now in Jacksonville, Daniels will man the starting position as a tight end, making him a prime candidate for having possibly his biggest career year. If Manning can stay healthy, watch out for Daniels being a primary target in the red zone.
Stedman Bailey
St. Louis Rams wide receiver Stedman Bailey should have a breakout season.
With a constant at quarterback in Nick Foles, Bailey can be the best option for the Rams.
In the last two years, his targets have increased by more than 20, going from 25 in 2013 to 46 in 2014. He came on during the latter portion of the season in 2014, hauling in 12 catches during a two game stretch in late November.
He also added a five-catch effort against Arizona in December.
Bailey isn’t being talked about much, and shouldn’t be considered a WR1. However, he could turn into a quality number 2 option.
Nelson Agholor
We’ve talked about Philadelphia Eagles rookie wide receiver Nelson Agholor already.
But he’s ranked in the low 30s among wide receivers now in most draft boards, and his ADP is far too low for a person who can make an immediate impact.
Agholor will be the number 2 receiver in the Philadelphia Eagles offense, which has shown during head coach Chip Kelly’s tenure to produce yards and points, especially through the air. With quarterback Sam Bradford healthy, this offense should be able to move the ball at will, and Agholor will play an important part in the offense.
By the end of the season, he can be a steady WR2 for fantasy football owners, so don’t pass him up in the later rounds.
