Remember those rookies you drafted in hopes they would start contributing toward the middle of the season?

Well it’s about time for some of them to start piling up the points. For some rookies, like Todd Gurley and Amari Cooper, fantasy football points haven’t been hard to come by.

Others, like Ameer Abdullah, Melvin Gordon and DeVante Parker, have yet to reach their preseason potential.

There’s still some rookies and veterans on the waiver wire who could pay dividends for you fantasy football team today. Here’s our best adds for week 7.

Stefon Diggs, Minnesota Vikings, Wide Receiver

Here’s a rookie wide receiver who didn’t get much preseason hype, but has made the most of his opportunities.

Diggs was drafted in the fifth round in the spring and wasn’t a sure bet to even make the team. He was inactive during the season’s first three weeks, but got his chance in week 4 because of injuries to other wide receivers.

In two games that he’s played, he’s totaled 87 and 129 yards receiving, and while he hasn’t scored a touchdown, he appears to have a good rapport with quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

Even with Charles Johnson possibly coming back this week, it would be inconceivable that Diggs wouldn’t continue to see plenty of action. There’s even a possibility that Diggs would man Johnson’s role in the offense, while Johnson eases back into the action.

Diggs was a dynamic playmaker in college at Maryland, so he has big-play ability. The Vikings also have good passing matchups coming up against Detroit, Chicago, St. Louis, Oakland and Green Baby.

Diggs will likely be the hottest move on the waiver wire this week.

Christine Michael, Dallas Cowboys, Running Back

The former Seattle Seahawks running back hasn’t gotten many opportunities this season, but it appears that Dallas changed everything during its bye week.

Michael is reportedly set to start this weekend’s game against the New York Giants for the Cowboys. This season, Michael hasn’t registered even a point for fantasy football owners, but with a possible start looming, he’s worth an add this week.

The Cowboys will still try to establish the run, especially with Matt Cassel taking over as quarterback. The Giants do have a strong rush defense, but any time you can get a starter this late on the waiver wire, it’s worth a look.

James Starks, Green Bay Packers, Running Back

We can’t make any sense of Eddie Lacy’s recent problems, other than possibly injuries, but it appears the Green Bay Packers don’t have an issue with looking elsewhere for production.

Starks rushed for 112 yards on 10 carries and two total touchdowns against the San Diego Chargers. He totaled 23.70 fantasy football points as Lacy was once again ineffective.

The Packers do have a bye this week, so that should give fantasy football owners more information on what’s transpiring in the Packers’ backfield.

Either way, we like Starks as a high-end backup and possibly even more if Lacy continues to falter.

David Cobb, Tennessee Titans, Running Back

Speaking of late-round rookies, Cobb could pay major dividends for forward-thinking fantasy football owners.

Cobb was a the number-one back for the Titans in the preseason, but was placed on the injured reserve/designated to return list before the season started.

He was drafted in the fifth round, but he flashed enough in the preseason to garner some attention. Granted, that was only the preseason and he was a fifth-round pick for a reason. But, no running back has emerged as a quality option in the backfield for the Titans, and with the recent four-game slide, we could see the coaching staff to start implementing changes.

Cobb could provide a spark when he returns in week 9, so he should be on your radar now to make sure he doesn’t get gobbled up off the waiver wire by some other fantasy football owner.

Lance Moore, Detroit Lions, Wide Receiver

We like Diggs more as a wide receiver on the waiver wire, but Moore has showed recent upside for the Lions.

He was targeted six times during Sunday’s win against the Chicago Bears, totaling 106 yards receiving and one touchdown. The week before, he garnered eight targets against Arizona.

The Lions have nothing in the running game, so they’re going to have to pass. And Detroit likely will be trailing this season, meaning Lions wide receivers will see plenty of targets.

Moore is gaining steam in the past two weeks, so he could be a solid option going forward. Temper your expectations with him, but you could do a lot worse on the waiver wire.
