This is the defining week for the ACC.

After facing some lackluster competition and covering the majority of those contests in weeks 1 and 2, ACC teams are breaking out and facing some stiff competition.

ACC teams will play six games featuring matchups against power-five conferences. In those six games, ACC teams are favored in four games.

The conference will put its early against the spread number to the test this weekend. Here are two matchups we’re watching this weekend.

ACC Season: 15-5 ATS

Last week outside of conference: 5-2 ATS

Georgia Tech (-2.5) at Notre Dame

We’ve been rolling on the Georgia Tech train throughout the offseason and now into the season.

With a new quarterback for Notre Dame, we actually thought this spread would be more in the favor of Georgia Tech. Luckily the public’s perception of the Irish is on our side.

The Yellow Jackets haven’t had much opposition this season, so we’re not sure what to make of their defense. We’ve been high on the offense, and so far it has looked unstoppable, so that is a promising sign heading into this game.

With a backup quarterback and other injuries piling up for the Irish, we fail to see how the Irish can keep up with the Yellow Jackets. Georgia Tech will make a statement for the top 10 with a win. Get on the bandwagon and take the Yellow Jackets. — Go chalk with Georgia Tech

Nebraska (+3.5) at Miami

If BYU doesn’t complete a Hail Mary, do bettors get more than a field goal in this game?

Highly doubtful.

We like the value Nebraska gives us on the road in Miami. The Hurricanes hardly have a home-field advantage, and we like that the Cornhuskers have already been through a tough game against a BYU team that may be better than what people first believed.

Miami hasn’t played any team of note, with wins against Bethune-Cookman and Florida Atlantic. The Huskers will come to play and should create problems for the Miami offense, which doesn’t feature the same talent as in years past.

Watch out for this game as not only a cover, but a straight up win for Nebraska. — Go against the chalk with Nebraska
