Only days since week 1 finished, the opening lines for week 2 of college football are already on the move.

Florida’s big win against New Mexico State is having an effect on its betting line this week in college football. The Gators opened as 13-point favorites against East Carolina. As of Sept. 7, Oddsshark has the Gators as 20.5-point favorites.

It’s not all about the Gators’ 61-13 opening week win. The Pirates struggled against Towson in week 1, winning by

eight points.

Here are two other college football games that have already seen major line movements heading into week 2 of college football.

Kansas State at UTSA

Line Movement: 5.5 points

UTSA was supposed to take a step back. But it showed last week against Arizona that it may be good enough to challenge teams from the power five conferences.

The Roadrunners covered last week against Arizona and lost by 10 points in the desert. That is likely why the line has moved so much since oddsmakers opened the odds at 22.5. The Wildcats, playing on the road in an early game Saturday, are now only 17-point favorites against UTSA.

There’s still plenty of days before this line closes, but it’s unlikely this moves any less than 17.5. If anything, the

betting public may move this back toward 20 points.

Fresno State at Mississippi

Line Movement: 5 points

Mississippi scored 76 points in week 1. Granted, that number came against some team called Tennessee-Martin, but the betting public took notice.

The Rebels opened as 23-point favorites against the West Coast Bulldogs. Now, the line is at 28.

Fresno didn’t do much in the opener against Abilene Christian last week en route to a 34-13 victory. Mississippi’s defense was supposed to already be a strength. If the offense carries through, then Fresno could be in trouble.

At four touchdowns, this may not move much more. Fresno is coming from the West Coast, but the game is at 3:30 p.m., so that shouldn’t be much of an issue.

Fresno State hasn’t fared well in recent years against power five conference teams, so that is another issue for bettors backing the Bulldogs.
