The final week of the regular season will once again see a thin fantasy football waiver wire. Running backs are scarce and wide receivers are inconsistent.

If you’re in the thick of a playoff race and need a streaming option or a better contributor at a position, here’s the week 13 fantasy football waiver wire.

Rod Smith, RB, Dallas Cowboys

He’s not going to automatically put your team at the top of the fantasy leaderboard, but he’s getting some volume as a Dallas running back.

He has 17 carries combined in the last two games, with 52 yards rushing and one touchdown. Those aren’t great numbers, but there’s not much remaining on the waiver wire for running backs. The Cowboys get a good matchup in week 13 against a Washington team unable to stop the run on a weekly basis.

That should help Smith get on track better. Look for the Cowboys to reevaluate the running back position with the offensive line in shambles. Smith could continue to see an increase in carries, which would benefit fantasy owners, especially in deep leagues for week 13.

Jimmy Garoppolo could be a good streaming option for the week 13 fantasy football waiver wire. Flickr

Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, San Francisco 49ers

Garoppolo made his first appearance for the 49ers in week 12 after C.J. Beathard exited with a leg injury. Even if Beathard is able to play in week 13, it’s probably time for San Francisco to see what they have in Garoppolo en route to the offseason.

Garoppolo looked good in limited action, going for pretty much the same fantasy output as starting quarterback C.J. Beathard. Garoppolo is the better option, so it’s just a matter if the 49ers desire to want to have an opportunity to win.

And Garoppolo will have a plus-matchup in week 13 against a Bears team allowing 9 yards per play through the air in the last three games. If he plays, Garoppolo is a solid streaming option for week 13.

Rex Burkhead, RB, New England Patriots

Burkhead isn’t consistent, but it’s hard to argue with his recent production.

He has double-digit fantasy points in two of the last three weeks, tallying two touchdowns in week 12 against Miami. And while the week 13 matchup doesn’t look great, Buffalo has been a rollercoaster on the defensive side of the ball this season.

That should open up some opportunities for Burkhead, who is getting a decent share in the backfield with Dion Lewis.

Burkhead should offer some nice depth for your lineup heading into the fantasy playoffs.

Jacquizz Rodgers, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Add Rodgers just in case Doug Martin is injured in week 13.

Rodgers played the majority of week 12 after Martin went out with a concussion. And despite not getting the goal-line work he deserved, he’s still the best option out of the backfield for Tampa Bay. He’s going to get major volume in week 13 if Martin is absent.

So he should be on the RB2/Flex radar for all leagues, so keep an eye on the injury report in week 13.
