Week 9 presents another week featuring several byes in the NFL. That creates a challenge in fantasy football, especially with such little to choose from on the waiver wire.

Even with the weak waiver wire, there’s a few options to consider heading into week 9. Here’s an early look at the week 9 fantasy football waiver wire.

Drew Stanton, QB, Arizona Cardinals

This is purely as a streaming option for your fantasy football team. There’s not many streaming options available for week 9, especially with Josh McCown squaring off against Buffalo. Stanton gets a tasty matchup against San Francisco and a week to prepare.

The last time we saw Stanton, he was horrendous in the fill-in role for Carson Palmer in London against the Los Angeles Rams. Now, though, he has had time to prepare for the starting role in an offense that still allows quarterbacks the opportunity to score fantasy points.

San Francisco is a bottom-10 defense against the pass and this game has the makings of showcasing plenty of points. If you need a streaming option at QB, Stanton is your best choice and widely available on the waiver wire.

Marlon Mack, RB, Indianapolis Colts

It’s almost impossible to find running backs with semi-decent volume on the waiver wire, so when you can find a player who will get some carries, it’s best to grab him right away. Mack is becoming the No. 1 running back for the Colts, and he still can be found in more than 50 percent of leagues on Yahoo.

In week 8, Mack had a career-high 14 touches. He still was outpaced by starter Frank Gore in week 8, but the continued trust in Mack is good news for fantasy owners searching for more depth as a running back.

Mack can add quality depth in any size of league. He isn’t a consistent starter, but he should be owned in all leagues.

Robby Anderson is a decent option as a WR3 and is available on the week 9 fantasy football waiver wire. Flickr

Robby Anderson, WR, New York Jets

Anderson was a deep sleeper in the preseason, since he was supposed to be the No. 1 target on the Jets roster. He hadn’t been that kind of a sleeper until recently when he’s been seeing more targets and tallying more yards.

Since week 6, Anderson has 23 targets, with it culminating in 104 yards receiving and one touchdown in week 8. That gives him a touchdown in two straight games and that passing offense isn’t going away anytime soon. The Jets aren’t terrible in the passing department, and it appears Anderson is going to see plenty of work.

He’s owned in less than 30 percent of fantasy leagues, and with all the byes in week 9, he should easily be a high-end WR3.

Alex Collins, RB, Baltimore Ravens

The best running back on the waiver wire resides in Baltimore. Collins has been a machine lately, and is averaging an eye-popping 5.97 yards per carry.

He still is competing with Javorius Allen for touches, but Collins is definitely the early down and goal-line running back for the Ravens. The Ravens will need Collins going forward and there’s still hope he can work in some receiving work, too.

Even without much being done in the receiving department, Collins is a must-add for your fantasy football team.
