With the season hitting its stride, it’s becoming more difficult to find two-start gems on the waiver wire in fantasy baseball.

But it’s still worth it to try to locate at least one two-start pitcher to help in a few categories. Here’s two pitchers who I’m eyeing this week as my two-start pitchers.

Kevin Gausman, Baltimore Orioles, SP

I know what you’re thinking. This is a really stupid move. Maybe…but I love to buy low in pretty much everything I do, and Gausman’s stock is about as low as it can be.

After an encouraging season last year, Gausman has fallen off the map this year. He’s still owned in about 50 percent of fantasy leagues, but those holding on to him, are likely one week away from dropping him.

He compiled a 3.61 ERA last season with an 8.7 strikeout per nine inning mark. This season, he owns a 7.55 ERA with a 5.8 strikeout per nine inning ratio. That’s not good.

But Gausman has good stuff and he should be well-rested, after being ejected early in his last game. Sometimes it takes awhile for a pitcher to find his groove, so I’m taking a buy-low approach with Gausman as a two-start pitcher. He squares off against Washington and Kansas City this week, so if you’re in the mood to gamble a bit, take a chance on Gausman.

Charlie Morton, Houston Astros, SP

The waiver wire isn’t generally filled with pitchers who can record strikeouts. That’s why I love Morton this week.

Morton has rejuvenated his career in the strikeouts category this season, with 20 strikeouts in his last two games. He has at least six strikeouts in four of six outings this season and has allowed three or fewer runs in four starts.

He’s showing some good stuff and I’ll ride him for this two-game stretch this week against Atlanta and the New York Yankees. He gets the Yankees on a travel day, so he may not get the full lineup, and the Braves are in the bottom-half of MLB in runs scored.
