New York Yankee hurler Michael Pineda was likely snatched up in your fantasy baseball draft, only to be dropped after a horrific start to the season.

In May, Pineda registered five starts, and allowed at least five earned runs in three of those starts. His ERA ballooned to almost 7.00 through May, so he’s likely sitting on your waiver wire right now. On ESPN.com, he’s still not owned in more than 50 percent of leagues, so don’t let anyone know your intentions before snatching him off the waiver wire for a back-end start this week.

Quietly, Pineda has been on point of late. In the month of June, he has a 2.89 ERA with a 20:4 strikeout-to-walk ratio in three games. When he has his stuff, he’s capable of delivering high strikeout/low walk output.

That’s a nice combination off the waiver wire.

And it should continue if past history is any indication of how this month will conclude. In his career, June has been one of his best months for ERA. Combine that with a matchup against the Minnesota Twins this week, and he should provide needed production for thirsty fantasy baseball owners.

The Twins rank toward the bottom in almost every offensive statistical category in Major League Baseball. That won’t get fixed by Saturday’s game against Pineda.

If he’s on the waiver wire, jump on him right away and reap the benefits from Pineda’s rediscovered stuff.
