For many fantasy baseball leagues, this week marks the end of the regular season.

With the fantasy baseball playoffs on the horizon, there’s still time to get your two-start pitcher in for this week, to either position your team for a better seed, or solidify that playoff spot.

Here’s the best two-start pitchers available on the week 21 fantasy baseball waiver wire.

Sam Gaviglio, SP, Toronto Blue Jays

Sometimes it’s all about the matchups. And Gaviglio has dream tilts this week.

The Toronto hurler will square off against Baltimore early in the week and will then travel to Miami for his second start. The Orioles and Marlins are 28th and 29th in run production this season in Major League Baseball, and are sporting the 26th and 28th-best batting averages.

If you’re looking to get into the playoffs, those matchups bode well for your chances.

Gaviglio isn’t going to be a world-beater, but he’s not bad, either. In his last outing, he went seven innings, allowing just one earned run and striking out seven. He has at least seven strikeouts in three of his last four starts.

The matchups are too good to pass up with Gaviglio this week. Back him for two starts.

Ivan Nova, SP, Pittsburgh Pirates

When it’s not about the matchups, it’s about who you trust. And I trust Nova off of the waiver wire as a two-start pitcher this week.

Nova has been good enough in the earned runs category in recent weeks to be a consistent starter.

He’s allowed more than three earned runs once in his last eight starts. He’s also pieced together three consecutive quality starts.

His matchups aren’t great, with St. Louis and Atlanta on tap this week. However, he’s a known commodity to keep the earned runs low and has put himself into position for quality starts. He won’t blow you away with strikeouts, but he fills the blanks on other counting statistics in fantasy baseball.
