Atlanta Braves pitcher Matt Wisler is ripe for your fantasy baseball roster this week.

He’s been a solid starting option this season for the Braves despite a 1-2 record. He owns a 3.24 ERA and has given up 10 total hits in his last three outings.

His WHIP is below 1.00 at 0.90 and he is coming off an outing where he hurled an eight-inning shutout against the New York Mets. He’s owned in less than 10 percent of leagues on ESPN.com, so he should be available for your fantasy roster.

What also makes Wisler a solid option is the matchups this week. When it comes to scoring runs, there are three teams worse than anybody at putting runs on the scoreboard. The Braves are one of those teams with a Major League-worst 87 runs.

The other two teams are the squads Wisler will face this week – Philadelphia on Tuesday and Kansas City on Sunday.

The Royals and Phillies have scored 98 runs apiece, a better number than the Braves, but worse than every other team in MLB.

That sets up well to at least give Wisler a chance to put up good numbers for fantasy owners, even if he doesn’t get any run support.

Wisler has pitched to contact quite a bit this season with low strikeout numbers, but that shouldn’t be an issue against Philadelphia. The Phillies own the second-worst batting average in MLB, just ahead of…you guessed it…the Braves.

Kansas City hits at a decent clip, but doesn’t push runners across home plate. Their total team RBIs are third worst in MLB. Also to help matters, Kansas City hitters won’t walk. The Royals own the least amount of walks in MLB with 68 for the entire season. Philadelphia isn’t much better at 77.

Wisler isn’t an option for the duration of the season with his low strikeout totals. This week, though, he should compete for two victories with low output from the opposition.
