What a great time of year for gambling.

March Madness has just completed, so there’s a bit of lull, with pretty much the Masters being the only top gambling item, until the Kentucky Derby goes off in a month. Thankfully, the NFL has the draft to go along with over/unders for the 2019 NFL win totals. Here’s my three teams that you should book right now for the 2019 NFL season.

Buffalo Bills, over/under 6.5

This is an anticipation that the offense can continue to show some strides to go along with a dominating defense.

Buffalo ranked third in the NFL in yards per play allowed, something that should intrigue bettors this coming season. The problem for Buffalo wasn’t the defense. It was the offense. Buffalo ranked second-from-last in yards per play. However, after the bye week in week 11, the Bills started to show some promise.

Over the final three games of the season, Buffalo managed almost a yard more per attempt than its season average. And the Bills went 3-3 in their final six games, making it seem like the Bills can put something better together on the field.

Buffalo has improved its offensive line in the offseason, so expect a much better product in 2019. I’m bullish on Miami being terrible and New England taking a step back, so I’m expecting the Bills to get at least seven wins.

New York Jets, over/under 7

For the first time, I expect the Patriots not to completely dominate the landscape, giving some AFC East teams some hope…except for Miami.

While I’m not a huge Le’Veon Bell fan, the Jets were close last year on occasion, so adding Bell should offer a major upgrade. Now another year older with a solid second-year quarterback Sam Darnold, the Jets should be one of the teams to watch this season.

The offense should be much improved, and even though the Jets didn’t get into the win column often last year, they were close in several losses. Another item that should be considered is that the Jets hit a rough patch in the middle of the season, something that should be expected with such a young quarterback.

This is too low of a number for a team that was close to making much more noise last season. The pieces are there for an improvement, so expect the Jets to make big strides.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers, over/under 6.5

One of these years, I’m going to hit on the Bucs.

The offense is ridiculous. Tampa Bay ranked second in yards per attempt last season and still finished with just five wins. The defense was atrocious, but that shouldn’t keep Tampa Bay below seven wins once again.

Tampa Bay ended 2018 with an extremely difficult schedule and many of those games were close. The Buccaneers should have won more than six games last year, but couldn’t pull out enough wins.

It’s time for Jameis Winston to take a step forward and I’m still not going to give up on him like everyone else is in the national spotlight.
