It was a below average day with my favorites in week 9, going 0-3 ATS on the day.
That’s an unusual sight for 2017 in college football handicapping for me, so I’ll shake that off to hammer home some winners in week 10. Here’s the week 10 college football picks featuring three favorites that will cover the spread.

Illinois at Purdue (-14)
It’s been a painful few weeks for the Boilermakers. Purdue has been keeping up each week, but hasn’t had anything to enjoy in the wins column.
Purdue has lost the last three games by a combined 11 points. The offense can’t move the ball against good defenses, but they won’t have to worry about that in week 10.
Illinois ranks 59th in yards per play allowed, giving the Boilermakers some relief after facing Rutgers and Wisconsin in two of the last three games. Purdue had better luck last week against Nebraska, which ranks 79th in yards per play.
Purdue still has a quality offense that can move the chains consistently. The Fighting Illini can’t do anything consistently, so the momentum should be in Purdue’s direction. — Go Chalk with Purdue
Georgia Tech (-10) vs. Virginia
We’ll stick with the big spreads and go chalk with Georgia Tech.
A surprise start for the Cavaliers has turned into what we believed they would be before the season started. After a 5-1 start, Virginia has been awful in the last two games, losing to Pittsburgh and Boston College.
One of the main issues with Virginia in those two losses is the inability to stop the run. The Cavaliers have allowed 413 yards combined on the ground in the last two games.
That’s a recipe for disaster against the Yellow Jackets. I trust Georgia Tech’s offense more than I do with anything the Cavaliers can do. The Yellow Jackets should move the ball at will and this game shouldn’t be close. — Go Chalk with Georgia Tech
Minnesota at Michigan (-15.5)
I’m giving up a lot of points this week, but I just can’t trust these underdogs.
The Golden Gophers can’t do anything on offense and they’re on the road for the second straight week. The Golden Gophers are 115th in the country in passing. Being one-dimensional against Michigan’s defense is an impossible chore.
I’m not completely sold on the Wolverines, but they do enough on offense that it won’t be too much of an issue to score in the upper 20s. I don’t see the Gophers getting too far out of the single-digit realm in this one, meaning the Wolverines should pull away late.
Michigan is far more talented and I only have to give up a little more than two touchdowns. That’s an OK price to pay against a team that can’t move the ball. — Go Chalk with Michigan
