If the college football season continues on the same path as the first two weeks, it will be a joyous fall for Against The Chalk.

The favorites were above .500 again in week 2. In a week where there’s not much happening in college football, here’s the best week 3 college football favorites that will cover the spread.

Favorites: 4-2 ATS

Overall: 10-2 ATS

Kansas State (-4.5) at Vanderbilt

The value in this game is high for bettors. The Wildcats entered the season as a Big 12 contender, while everyone was dismissing the Commodores once again. A nice win against Middle Tennessee State and a dominating win in week 2 has the betting public believing in Vanderbilt.

Not so fast.

This is still the same Vanderbilt team that has struggled consistently in recent years to even be competitive. And what has Kansas State done to deserve to be less than a touchdown underdog in this game? They’ve breezed through the first two weeks, hammering their opponents.

The Wildcats have an offense that translates to road wins. They will churn out the clock, keeping it away from Vanderbilt. This game will be close at half, with the Wildcats pulling away in the late third and fourth quarters. — Go Chalk with Kansas State

Oklahoma State (-12) at Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh covered for me in week 2, but did it in not-so-convincing fashion.

The Panthers were outgunned and outmanned throughout that contest. That’s a bad sign against the Cowboys, which will sport an even better offense than Penn State.

Oklahoma State has dismantled its opponents thus far this season. The offense is capable of putting up at least five touchdowns a game, and the defense has looked athletic so far this season. Pittsburgh can’t get any consistency on offense this season. The Panthers will make some stops, but the offense won’t be able to keep up.

Watch for the Cowboys to jump on the Panthers quick and hold them away for the remainder of the game by at least two touchdowns. — Go Chalk with Oklahoma State

Middle Tennessee State at Minnesota (-9)

Middle Tennessee State is getting too much credit for a week 2 win against Syracuse. The Orange are a mess. And despite building an early lead, they allowed the Blue Raiders to come back.

Middle Tennessee State has scored nine points this year in the first half. It proved to be fatal against Vanderbilt and it will once again against the Golden Gophers.

Minnesota hasn’t been hitting on all cylinders yet, but something tells me they’re about to figure it out. This is a perfect opportunity and I’m getting great value by giving up less than double-digits. Book the Gophers. — Go Chalk with Minnesota
