There hasn’t been a Triple Crown winner since 1978. According to the betting public and oddsmakers, that may change after Saturday’s Belmont Stakes.

American Pharoah’s odds have gotten better since his win in the Preakness three weeks ago. After the race, American Pharoah was an even-money favorite to win the Belmont. With the race Saturday, American Pharoah is now a 2/3 favorite to win the Belmont, according to Oddsshark.com.

It won’t be easy for the winner of the Kentucky Derby and Preakness. Fourteen other horses have won both of those races since 1978 and have come up short in the Belmont.

American Pharoah isn’t a stranger to being a favorite, having been the favorite in the first two legs of the Triple Crown, and winning both races. The horse will welcome familiar company in the Belmont, with five Kentucky Derby horses returning to the Belmont after skipping the Preakness.

Frosted is one of those horses and currently owns the second-best odds at 6/1. Frosted finished fourth at the Kentucky Derby. Materiality also skipped the Preakness after being one of the favorites at the Kentucky Derby. Materiality is going off at 13/2, slightly worse odds than Frosted.

But the Belmont will be all about American Pharoah. Currently, if just betting on American Pharoah to win the Belmont, the line is +120 for no and -150 for yes.
