Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Rubby De La Rosa would rather fantasy baseball owners forget about his start on June 8.

De La Rosa threw five innings that night against Los Angeles. He surrendered nine earned runs on 10 hits, while striking out four batters. In the game before that, De La Rosa wasn’t much better, allowing seven runs during five innings against Atlanta.

Since that time, he’s been a different pitcher.

He’s allowed one earned run during the last 15 innings. He’s 2-0 in that time period and has 12 strikeouts. The strikeout numbers aren’t great, and he has walked five batters in the last two games. However, when the mid-week waiver occurs, De La Rosa will provide a start Thursday at Colorado that would give fantasy baseball owners a back-end start this week.

De La Rosa has six wins on the year, and although he has a 4.37 ERA, he has put together 8.4 strikeouts per nine innings this season. If he can continue with those numbers, he could provide quality production in the wins and strikeout categories. And if he can limit the walks and hits, he can keep the earned runs down, giving fantasy baseball owners plenty of reasons to pick him up this week.
