Trade values don’t stay stagnant for long. These two players have high trade values that may not last long.

Prince Fielder

Sometimes you have to be daring during the fantasy baseball season. Putting Fielder on the trading block may be crazy, but it could pay dividends in the future.

The Texas first baseman/designated hitter is hitting a career-best .355 to go along with 39 RBIs, 26 runs and 10 home runs. He’s also at above .400 for on-base percentage.

So why would anyone trade Fielder? It could be desperation, or a move like this could be a stroke of genius if Fielder tones down his newly found ability to hit almost anything that comes his way.

Minus his injury-filled season last year, Fielder has been healthy for most of career, playing more than 156 games from 2006 to 2013, so fantasy baseball owners should expect him to play for the rest of the season. However, his batting average is far above his normal output, with his second-best average coming in 2012 at .313. He’s never been above .300 in any other season.

Right now, his value is very high, despite no home runs, one RBI, two runs and six hits in his last six games. Those numbers are coming off one of the best stretches by any player in Major League Baseball, so it’s not surprising that his value is so high.

If fantasy baseball owners believe this past week will be more of the same during the rest of the season, it could be a quality option if another fantasy baseball owner would give up another player worthwhile.

Mark Buehrle

This could be a stretch. However, when trying to shop fantasy baseball players, owners should know who their competitors are.

Buehrle isn’t going to get strikeouts. He isn’t going to have a strong ERA anymore either, with his number at 4.97 this season.

What Buehrle is going to add is wins. He has 10 starts this season and has a decision in all 10 outings. He has six wins, giving him the eighth-most in Major League Baseball.

Fantasy baseball owners likely enjoy having a pitcher who can pick up wins at such a high clip. However, Buehrle will likely fade in the second half, similar to what he has done in the past.

Buehrle is a highly specialized trade, so make sure the person you’re shopping him to, has a dire need for wins.
