HOT

Yovani Gallardo

Texas Rangers pitcher Yovani Gallardo’s last six starts are what fantasy baseball owners should recognize when picking up pitchers off the waiver wire.

Gallardo is 3-0 during that time with five earned runs allowed inĀ 37 innings. He also has 32 strikeouts in those six games, good enough for an eight strikeouts-per nine inning average.

However, he’s owned in less than 50 percent of fantasy baseball leagues, giving fantasy baseball owners an opportunity at picking up a pitcher capable of limiting earned runs and recording strikeouts.

He also ranks No. 1 in Major League Baseball in ERA in the last 30 days with a 0.87 mark.

He’s well worth the look for any fantasy baseball team.

NOT

Leonys Martin

Texas Rangers outfielder Leonys Martin has two hits since June 14…and he hasn’t missed a game since that date.

Martin started hot this year, but has since cooled, now batting .234 with 22 runs and RBIs apiece, and five home runs. Since June 14, Martin is 2-for-28, with both of the hits coming in one game against the Chicago White Sox on June 21.

Martin also is owned in a little more than 40 percent of fantasy baseball leagues, despite ranking 38th in batting average for outfielders in the last 30 days. He also is ranked 63rd in runs with eight scored.

There are several other options in the outfield position and Martin may have hit his peak already in the earlier part of the season.
