Looking to add some depth to your fantasy baseball team? It’s almost playoff time, meaning the waiver wire should be pretty cleaned out by now. However, there are a few options still available.

Jung Ho Kang

Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman Jung Ho Kang (who also is listed as a shortstop in fantasy baseball leagues) can definitely get on base.

Kang is residing on most waiver wires and his .434 on-base percentage during his last 25 games ranks sixth in Major League Baseball during that time period.

That’s only part of the statistical force that Kang has offered during the last month.

His .371 batting average isn’t too bad either, ranking 11th in MLB. His on-base percentage and batting average are tops among third basemen in the last month.

If needing more out of a fantasy baseball option than just batting average and on-base percentage, Kang also is scoring runs.

He is second among third basemen in the last month with 18 runs. He trails leader Kyle Seager by a run. In addition to those stats, he has 10 RBIs in his 25 games, ranking him 12th among third basemen, and his four homers are good enough for fifth-best.

He’s worth an add in pretty much all fantasy baseball leagues, and he should be available in at least half of the leagues. The only problem is that his ownership is rising, so act fast before a competitor grabs him off the waiver wire.

Chris Tillman

Let the second-half resurgence of Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Chris Tillman begin.

It seems as if every year Tillman makes fantasy baseball owners go crazy in the first half, only to make up with a much better second half of the season.

This season seems to be falling in the same line.

Since the All-Star break, Tillman is 2-0 with a 0.38 ERA and 14 strikeouts. He has 23.2 innings pitched under his belt and surrendered seven hits and three walks, giving him a quality WHIP at 0.46.

During Tillman’s career, he owns six less starts in the second half, but has pitched in only three less innings than the first half.

His career second-half ERA is 3.67, compared to his first-half of 4.42. He also has 313 strikeouts in the second half compared to 278 in the first half.

His win percentage also is slightly higher in the second half at .595, compared to .571, while his WHIP is 1.164 in the second half and 1.437 in the first half.

Tillman will take the mound again Friday at the Los Angeles Angels.
