The Kansas City Royals have exceeded expectations so far this season, at least in the eyes of oddsmakers.

Kansas City is 14-6 overall, and so far, much of that damage has been done as an underdog. The Royals are best as an underdog, and according to Oddsshark.com, they’ve been in that role in nine of their 20 games. So far, the Royals are a Major League best 8-1 as an underdog.

The Detroit Tigers, also atop the American League Central Division, have done its damage in a different way. The Tigers have been underdogs in four games, going 3-1 in those contests. The Tigers have been a favorite in 18 games, going 12-6.

While the Tigers have been favorites in the majority of their games, the Minnesota Twins have been on that side of the betting line twice during the season. The Twins are 0-2 as favorites, but have complied a 9-10 record as an underdog. The Indians and White Sox have experienced both sides of the lines, with the White Sox going 4-3 as a favorite and 4-7 as an underdog, and the Indians compiling a 5-9 mark as a favorite and a 1-4 record as an underdog.

None of the American League Central Division teams have separated themselves as a sure bet in the over/under category. The teams are flirting with a 50/50 split across those lines, with the Indians having the most games in the under category with 11 of their 19 games going under the total runs. The Tigers have registered 12 games in the over category.
