There’s a reason why Major League Baseball experts dismiss a pitcher’s win/loss record.

Just look at New York Yankees pitcher Nate Eovaldi’s record. He’s 11-2 this season, but his ERA is 4.15. The reason for the bloated win total is because Eovaldi is benefitting from a tremendous amount of run support, which is ranked second highest in the American League.

So why should should fantasy baseball owners consider him for a back-end start this week? His match-up is favorable, and lately he’s been able to win games while also limiting the opposition’s run production.

The Yankees will face Cleveland later this week, with Eovaldi squaring off against Trevor Bauer. Bauer has experienced a rough patch lately, where he’s allowing too many home runs.

During his previous outing, Bauer surrendered a season-high three homers. During his last nine starts, he’s allowed 14 home runs, while collecting a 5.27 ERA.

If Bauer is struggling with the long ball, he picked the wrong team to face this week. The Yankees this season are ranked third in home runs in MLB with 147.

It’s not just the Yankees offense that makes this match-up appealing. Eovaldi has mustered a 3.15 ERA during his last 41 1/3 innings of work. During that stretch, he’s also recorded 28 strikeouts.

Eovaldi can add to a fantasy baseball owner’s roster this week through earned run average and win potential. Back-end starts are important at this point of the year and Eovaldi shouldn’t disappoint.
