Chicago Cubs fans are hoping “Back to the Future” got its World Series prediction wrong by a year.

Oddsmakers and bettors are banking on that, too.

The Cubs’ run in 2015 to the National League Championship series was enough to push them to odds-on preseason favorite heading into 2016. According to Oddsshark, Chicago is at +400 to win the World Series, a year after the 1985 film, “Back to the Future,” predicted.

The competition will be fierce in the National League in the betting world, with San Francisco, the New York Mets, Washington and the Los Angeles Dodgers going off with the second, third, fifth and sixth-best odds.

The Giants will look for a repeat performance from their 2014 World Series title at +750, while the Mets, who made the 2015 World Series, are +800. The Nationals and Dodgers are at +1400, just ahead of the top American League team, the Boston Red Sox.

The Red Sox will look to bounce back after a down year in 2015, with +1200 odds to win the World Series. The 2015 champion, the Kansas City Royals, are tied with Toronto at +1600.

Houston is next in line at +1800.

If you’re looking for long shots, and if last year was any indication of their value, with the New York Mets and Houston Astros having success, it could pay dividends.

Colorado and Atlanta have the worst odds to win, going off at +15000, while Milwaukee, Cincinnati, San Diego and Philadelphia are at +10000.
