Sporting a 2.16 ERA, starting pitcher Robbie Ray has provided some stability for the Arizona Diamondbacks pitching staff.

Now, it’s his turn to show what he can do for fantasy baseball teams.

Ray has eight starts this season and has allowed three or more runs in two outings. He’s shown the ability to notch shutouts, recording three of those, including a 7 2/3 shutout in his most recent game against the Texas Rangers.

He doesn’t have the strikeout numbers that many fantasy baseball owners desire, but he’s on the waiver wire, and can provide a good start to the second half with a quality ERA and WHIP. His season’s WHIP is 1.02.

His ERA in the last month is competing with some of the better pitchers in Major League Baseball, ranking 37th during that time. His WHIP also is faring well compared to other pitchers, ranking 19th during the last month.

His assignment this week won’t be easy, as he squares off against the San Francisco Giants. However, with how little there is available on the waiver wire, he could provide quality numbers in multiple statistical categories for fantasy baseball owners looking to add pitching help for the first match-up of the second half.
