These three fantasy baseball players are scorching hot. And better yet, they’re most likely on the waiver wire (OK, well at least two of them are.)

Prince Fielder

Normally, Texas Rangers first baseman Prince Fielder wouldn’t be on this list. It’s not that he can’t be hot at a particular time in the year. It’s that he’s going to be owned in virtually all fantasy baseball leagues.

Fielder is putting up monster numbers right now, so he’s worth a mention in this list as hot players to watch. If he’s on your fantasy baseball team, you should likely have won at least the last two weeks of matchups.

Let’s focus on Fielder’s last seven games. In 29 at-bats, he has 15 hits, which would make any fantasy baseball owner grin from ear to ear. However, that might be his most underwhelming statistic.

Five of those 15 hits have gone for home runs, and he has 15 RBIs. That’s not a misprint. In the last seven games, with 15 hits, Fielder has 15 RBIs for the red-hot Rangers.

It’s not just what he has done recently, though. He has 10 homers, 38 RBIs and is batting .368 for the year. Pretty much any player would be worth trading for Fielder, because he doesn’t appear to be slowing down at any point. However, good luck prying him from any fantasy baseball owner’s hands.

J.B. Shuck

Who?

Many of you may be asking that question. It’s legitimate, especially since Chicago White Sox outfielder J.B. Shuck isn’t an everyday starter, but he’s having a good week since he’s filling in for some injured players in the outfield.

Shuck has a .393 on-base percentage and .360 batting average in the last seven games. He hasn’t produced much in the runs or RBI category this season, with three runs and five RBIs, but that may be because he hasn’t seen the field.

What’s important to note about Shuck is that if the White Sox continue to stumble, bench players may start to get a chance and management may begin to clear house, giving room for Shuck to play in the outfield.

Shuck also can do something that is significant to fantasy baseball owners. He can steal bases if provided the opportunity. In the last two games, he has three stolen bases, a commodity not common in Major League Baseball anymore.

He may not be an option right away, but he’s worth a look down the road, especially if the White Sox continue to falter.

Yasmany Tomas

Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Yasmany Tomas won’t be on the waiver wire for long if he continues hitting like he’s been for the last few weeks.

He’s currently riding a 10-game hitting streak, where he has 19 hits in 46 at-bats. In the last seven games, he’s tied for seventh among third basemen in batting average at .333.

His biggest knock is that he doesn’t provide much in the runs, stolen bases or RBI categories yet. That may come for the young infielder, but he gets on base, and in a position where the hitting talent is difficult to find, Tomas is providing fantasy baseball owners an option that may get better during the season.
