Detroit Tigers outfielder Yoenis Cespedes has been on fire for the last week.

He’s on a seven-game hitting streak and during that time, he’s hitting .481, with six runs, two home runs and six RBIs.

This strength at the plate hasn’t only been during the last seven games. Cespedes has been a reliable option for the Tigers offense all season. He ranks fifth in batting average for outfielders at .310. His 34 RBIs rank him 13th among outfielders and his 36 runs have him at 12th.

He’s been a solid option all season. Now’s not the time to get sentimental about what he’s provided to a fantasy baseball team. Now’s the time to find suitors for a trade.

The batting average just doesn’t match up with his historical output. His batting average this season is 41 points better than his career average of .269. He’s on pace to produce approximately the same amount of runs and RBIs that he’s accustomed to, but at some point that average will dip down to the level that is more in line with Cespedes’ production.

When that happens, he’ll get on base less and have less opportunities to drive in runs, meaning those numbers will likely go down as well.

The reason why Cespedes is such a good option to trade is that outfielder is one of the lone positions in Major League Baseball that has several quality producers. There are other options in the outfield, thus allowing fantasy baseball owners to search out another fantasy baseball team with a quality infielder. That would give fantasy baseball owners the best bang for their trade.
